Why Choose Us
Pangolin Strategies offers thoughtful, practical support for safari lodges that care deeply about how they operate and how guests experience their time in the bush.
We understand how lodges actually run
Pangolin Strategies is grounded in the realities of running a safari lodge: busy seasons, small teams, constant decisions, and little time to step back. We focus on what’s practical and achievable, improving how things work day to day without adding unnecessary complexity.
We focus on experience from the inside out
Great guest experiences don’t happen by accident. They’re shaped by clear operations, aligned teams, and thoughtful decisions behind the scenes. We look closely at how a lodge operates and how guests move through it, ensuring the experience guests feel is supported by how the lodge actually runs.
We bring calm, trusted perspective
Lodge owners and GMs often need a steady outside voice, someone who can listen, ask the right questions, and offer honest guidance. Pangolin Strategies acts as a trusted thought partner, helping leaders step back, see more clearly, and make decisions with confidence.
Kasey Janousek, Founder
After working in the tech industry for a decade as a strategist and operator, a trip to southern Africa shifted how I thought about work, pace, and purpose. What I experienced there – thoughtful design, deep presence, and alignment between people and place – reshaped the direction of my career.
Through Pangolin Strategies, I now work with safari lodges looking to simplify operations, refine experiences, and tell their story with care. My approach is practical, observant, and collaborative. I take time to understand how things truly function day to day, listening closely to the challenges leaders and teams face and the pressures they carry. From there, I help identify what can be improved and where small, thoughtful changes can have the greatest impact, supporting leaders in making clear, considered decisions that serve both their teams and the guests who visit their lodge.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work onsite or remotely?
All engagements start with time spent onsite where I can observe daily operations and the guest stay in context. From there, I may complete your operational plan and deliverables remotely. Each engagement is tailored to what will be most valuable for your lodge.
How long does an engagement last?
Engagements vary by scope. The Tracks typically takes 1-2 weeks. The Trail usually spans 3-4 weeks. Longer advisory partnerships via The Horizon are structured on a monthly basis.
How would you describe your role?
I act as an external advisor and operator. I’m not a marketing agency or a temporary staff member. My role is to help bring clarity, structure, and thoughtful guidance to how the lodge operates and is experienced.
Who do you work with at the lodge?
I work closely with lodge owners and general managers, but I'll also spend time listening to team members across the lodge to understand how things function day to day. The intention is always to support leadership while respecting the rhythm of the team.
What if we're not sure what support we need?
That’s very common. Many lodge owners sense that things could run more smoothly, even if the starting point isn’t clear. An initial conversation helps determine whether there’s a fit and what type of engagement would be most useful.
How do we begin?
You’re welcome to get in touch through the contact form below. I personally review every inquiry and will follow up to arrange a conversation if it feels like a potential fit. I work with a small number of lodges at a time to ensure each engagement receives the attention it deserves.
